Concerns about Apple reducing orders have grown after Apple's main chip manfacturing parterner, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), released its lower-than-expected guidance for the second quarter of 2018 recently.
It is believed that the OLED panel accounts for about one-third of the total production cost of an iPhone X, which is now experiencing much lower sales than expected. Both companies are said to be in negotiations, with Apple trying to lower the price of the screens, which could factor into the rumoured lower prices this year's iPhones.
The investor note also reveals that analysts believe that a plus-sized premium model this generation could remedy 2017's notable omission of a larger iPhone X model. By using LCD instead of OLED panels, Apple coulld save $50; similarly replacing steel frame for another material may save around $20.
Spurs stay alive vs. Warriors in West
They put the Spurs in the bonus with 7:59 left in the third quarter, with Andre Iguodala plagued with foul trouble (four). After all, the Warriors won the first three games of the series by a combined 49 points (average victory of 16.3 points).
According to the CIRP survey of US Apple customers, sales of newer iPhone models accounted for 60 per cent of all iPhones sold, down from 78 per cent the year before.
According to Cihra, the LCD model could be called just "iPhone", while the OLED models will retain the "iPhone X" moniker.
In general, it is widely expected that prices of other smartphone OLED displays will decrease this year.
The sources also noted that some touch panel makers, which had been operating at a three-shift schedule to meet orders, have now cut back the workload for the night shift, due to product transition at Apple.
