A hole in one is certainly cause for celebration, but Tony Finau may have done himself some damage on the eve of the Masters.
If that was the case, Finau showed little sign of injury, as he finished his round - two more holes - without a noticeable limp.
THE ANNUAL Par-3 Contest took place at Augusta today ahead of the opening round of the 2018 Masters on Thursday.
The legendary trio have 11 green jackets between them but it was Nicklaus' grandson - caddying for the Golden Bear - who provided the star turn with a stunning hole in one.
Dressed in a white caddie suit and playing in front of Nicklaus and playing partners Gary Player and Tom Watson, Gary brought about the biggest cheers of the day when making his first ever hole-in-one.
Teen trapped in Los Angeles pipe for 12 hours
About 730 metres of pipe had been inspected when rescuers found Jesse about a kilometre from where he disappeared. Specialized cameras attached to buoys were used to search hundreds of feet of pipe.
Nicklaus called it the "No. 1" moment in his golf career, which included winning 18 majors.
"This will go right in the hole, my man", said Player as the ball rolled on the green.
"I was aware [of the leaderboard] after I birdied the first four holes, " Watson said.
No player has won the Par 3 and gone on to win the regular tournament, but that won't be a problem this year for Watson, who had just one mission this week. "I said, 'well I think you're going to make a hole-in-one".
"Seeing Tom at 68 putting the way he did was just a joy, and Jack at 78 shooting 4-under par, it was a day I'll never forget, " Player said.
