Produced by Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen alongside Chazelle and Gosling, First Man opens in theaters on October 12th.
The two-minute trailer shows Gosling's Armstrong grappling with the complexities of executing "one of the most unsafe missions in history" and the mission's personal impact on his anxious wife, played by Claire Foy, and their young sons. The biopic will be set between 1961 and 1969, depicting the years leading up to NASA's Apollo 11 mission. We then get a glimpse at several key moments in Armstrong's life as he prepares to become the first human being ever to set foot on the moon.
Universal Pictures has released the first poster for First Man, giving hopefuls an up-close-and-personal look at Gosling as Armstrong. Damien Chazelle (La La Land, Whiplash) directs from a script by Josh Singer (Spotlight), based on an earlier screenplay by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and the original book by James R. Hansen.
