George Clooney was taken to hospital in Italy today after he was involved in a road accident while driving a moped and was thrown across a car's bonnet, breaking its windshield.
"A auto did not respect the right of way and hit him", the tweet read.
Clooney was travelling towards the set in Costa Corallina when a vehicle suddenly turned and struck him, according to La Nuova.
According to the Italian newspaper La Nuova Sardegna, the actor was travelling towards the set of his new television series Catch 22 when his scooter encountered a suddenly turning vehicle. Authorities say that Clooney was not seriously injured and confirm he was released from the hospital a short time later. The series is being produced for Hulu.
Immediately after the crash, Clooney was transported to a nearby hospital.

Trump called Schumer out of courtesy to update him on the process and is not believed to have been seeking his advice. Justice Kennedy announced his retirement from the high court on June 27 and becomes effective July 31.
Even earlier in June, Clooney was seen zipping around the island on a scooter with Amal, 40, hugging him tightly. It's unclear when George will return to filming.
Clooney has a home on the Italian mainland, on Lake Como.
The move comes after it was announced in April that the actor was going to be reducing his role in the production so that he could concentrate on directing and producing.
