Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu worries that President Assad could allow his own Iranian allies entrench the area near its boundary lines.
In addition to Netanyahu, Ali Akbar Velayati - a senior advisor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei - is also scheduled to be in Moscow on Wednesday for a meeting with Putin.
Russian Federation is a key ally to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

Israel then carried out what it called "large-scale" raids on Syrian air defence systems and Iranian targets, which reportedly included T-4.
Israel has previously reacted furiously to reports that their missiles were intercepted, and has used those interceptions as a pretext for further attacks.
The military said a reconnaissance drone from Syria flew 10 kilometers into Israeli airspace the previous day.
