The Jet Airways flight to Jaipur had to turn back as the alarming symptoms became apparent, the airline said, with one traveller describing "panic" on board. In a statement, Jet Airways spokesperson said, "Jet Airways is extending full cooperation to the DGCA for the ongoing investigation of the event".
India's Ministry of Civil Aviation said in a tweet it had sought an "immediate report" from official agencies.
After the Boeing 737 aircraft landed, the affected passengers were taken to the airport terminal where doctors administered first aid.
MoCA has taken cognizance of the incident in flight 9W 697 earlier today and has requested DGCA to file its report immediately on the issue.
The flight took off for Jaipur from Mumbai at 10.15 am.

In August 2005, a Helios Airways flight from Cyprus to Athens had suffered a loss in cabin pressure which immobilized the crew, the plane flew on autopilot till the fuel ran out and it crashed, killed all 121 passengers and the crew on board. All guests were deplaned safely.
The flight turned back "due to loss in cabin pressure", according to a statement from the Indian worldwide airline. "I saw a passenger sitting next to me bleeding from the nose".
Others posted videos from the cabin, showing passengers sitting quietly and breathing through oxygen masks.
"The revised offering will now allow guests to enjoy more value for money, by letting them choose a travel plan based on their preference, travel requirements and budget", said a Jet airways spokesperson.
