Russia announced Monday it will supply Syria's government with sophisticated S-300 air defense systems after last week's downing of a Russian plane by Syria forces responding to an Israeli air strike, a friendly fire incident that stoked regional tensions.

Israel, which insisted Syria's military was to blame, warned that giving the S-300 to "irresponsible actors" would make the region more risky.

In May 1949 Moscow votes in favour of Israel's admission to the United Nations.

That's clearly the point. He also said that Russian Federation would start to electronically jam aircraft flying in to attack targets in Syria.

He was referring to efforts by Russian Federation to rein in Iran-backed forces in Syria, including a deal struck in July to keep such fighters 85 kilometers (53 miles) from the Israel-occupied Golan Heights. The short timetable for delivery this time, however, seems to mean this is a done deal, and Syria will soon have substantial air defense.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pledged Tuesday to continue combatting Iranian "entrenchment" in Syria and coordinating with Russian Federation after the downing of one of Moscow's planes.

The Russian reconnaissance plane was downed last Monday after Israeli jets attacked targets in Latakia province.

Last week, using older S-200 surface-to-air missile defences, Syrian air defence forces accidentally shot down a Russian Il-20 electronic intelligence plane during an Israeli missile attack.

Putin's Defense Ministry said the IAF' actions on September 17th constituted a clear breach of existing agreements between Israel and Russian Federation which were meant to prevent clashes between the two countries in Syria.

President Trump says he may delay meeting with Rosenstein
Two White House officials said Wednesday that Trump is unlikely to fire Rosenstein until after the election. But it's unclear how safe his job will be after the November midterm elections.

Arguably, the most concerning thing for Israel will be the delivery to Syria of an S-300 anti-aircraft system, which will boost Syria's capabilities to deny Israel access to its airspace. Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that recent findings by the Russian military showed an Israeli jet "deliberately" pushed the Russian Il-20 into the line of fire, enabling its downing.

"We think introducing the S-300s to the Syrian government would be a significant escalation by the Russians. and something that we hope, if these press reports are accurate, they would reconsider", Bolton told reporters.

A top Syrian official has said a new air defence system from ally Russian Federation will force Israel to "think carefully" before carrying out any more air strikes in the country.

Shortly before the downing, Israeli strikes had hit targets inside Syria, reportedly preventing an arms shipment going to Iranian-backed Hezbollah group. Moscow has tried to maintain good relations with Iran, which is also allied with the Syrian government, and Israel, which is wary of Iran's growing influence in Syria.

Russian officials had described manoeuvres by Israeli fighter jets during the incident as "hostile" and have accused Israel of violating Syria's sovereignty, breaching the Russian-Israeli de-confliction agreement. It has long lobbied Moscow not to provide the S-300 system to Syria.

Further proof of Russian lies about the IAF actions and the loss of their IL-20 aircraft came from the Russian Defense Ministry itself.

An unnamed source in the Syrian Army say that Russia has already deployed the first S-300 systems to the Khmeimim (Russian military airbase in Syria).

A senior diplomat said: "There is no change to the deconfliction mechanism, and the standard operating procedures remain in force as they were before". The Russian defense establishment, on the other hand, as usual, sees the Iranians as a kind of ally against the US and the West.
