Two Black people were killed in calculated shootings by a white supremacist on Wednesday in Kentucky before the shooter was taken into custody without incident. He was also charged with assaulting his elderly parents in January 2009.
Police say multiple people have been shot inside a grocery store on the outskirts of Louisville, Kentucky. Police wrote in the report that Bush's parents are "terrified of (his) unpredictable behavior". Both the man and the woman died at the scene.
Russell Coleman, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky, said Friday that federal investigators are looking into whether this broke federal law, and that includes hate crimes, according to The Associated Press.
Kroger said it was saddened by the shooting, and has closed the store until the investigation concludes. Bush then walked out of the store and shot Vickie Jones, 67, several times in the parking lot, according to an arrest citation and the police statement.
Bush was charged with two counts of murder and 10 of wanton endangerment.
A dispatcher with the Jeffersontown Police Department said a suspect was detained following the shooting Wednesday afternoon at a Kroger store. As he crouched down, Harrell said he saw the gunman walk "nonchalantly" by with a gun by his side. "[The shooter] said, 'Don't shoot me, I won't shoot you, ' he's like, 'Whites don't kill whites'". "Whites don't shoot whites".
One of the victims was identified to Courier Journal as Maurice Stallard. Stallard was the father of Kellie Watson, the chief equity officer for the administration of Mayor Greg Fischer, tasked with improving racial equity within city government's policies and practices.

An employee of Securitas who said he had had some EMT training told WAVE 3 News' David Mattingly that he tried to help one of the victims, but it was too late. The woman said her ex-husband was "paranoid and was put on medication" but discontinued the meds.
