MS police are investigating two nooses and six "hate signs" found in the grounds of the state legislature, a day before a US Senate vote that has focused attention on the area's history of racist violence.
"We are hanging nooses to remind people that times have not changed", reads one of the signs, said Chuck McIntosh, director of communications for the Mississippi Department of Finance and Administration, which oversees the Capitol Police.
The troubling discovery comes the day before a runoff election between Republican Cindy Hyde-Smith and Democrat Mike Espy is set to take place.
The runoff Senate victor will serve the final two years of the six-year term of now-retired Sen.
"I've known her for a period of time now as senator", Trump told reporters Monday afternoon.
At a midday event, before the content of the signs was disclosed, Espy said he knew nothing about the nooses or signs.
Needless to say, with the amount of scrutiny that POTUS receives, Trump got dragged through the mud for this one.
Of the need to elect Hyde-Smith, he said "We need every last Republican vote in the United States Senate", to defend tax cuts, deregulation, 2nd Amendment rights, to confirm "great judicial nominees" and to "keep the criminals and drug dealers and terrorist the hell out of our country".
Sabyasachi mistakenly takes credit for Deepika's Kanjeevaram saree, clarifies later
While Deepika wears a striking gold silk saree , Ranveer is dressed in a heavily embroidered Rohit Bal bandhgala suit. Like their wedding, "DeepVeer" will be seen in Sabyasachi Mukherjee outfits for the gala night.
The sign above references Republican Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, who apologized "to anyone offended" by her remarks about going to public lynchings. Which, given that the donation came after she made pro-lynching comments, is rather relevant.
MS has a history of racially motivated lynchings.
(CNN)The 2018 election officially ends today as MS voters head to the polls to choose between Sen.
Hyde-Smith is favored to win in a state that voted for Mr. Trump over her by 18 points. Thad Cochran who stepped down for health reasons, are in the runoff because neither garnered a majority vote in the November 6 first election.
For the past couple of days we've been talking about how Major League Baseball's PAC made a maximum donation to the campaign of U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith. It says MS had 581 during that time, the highest number of any state.
"I just don't think it rises to the same level", Winburn said.
"If Espy wins that race, it represents a huge breakthrough for America", said the Reverend Jesse Jackson, a longtime civil rights activist and former Democratic presidential candidate.
Everyone knows who Donald Trump is.
