Kemp, Georgia's GOP gubernatorial nominee, is now in a high profile race against Democrat Stacey Abrams, who has received support on the campaign trail from former President Barack Obama and Oprah Winfrey.
The office of Brian Kemp, who is also the Republican candidate for governor, said in a Sunday morning news release that they will investigate the Georgia Democratic Party as part of its probe, but did not offer any details on why it is investigating the Democratic party.
Abrams, a former minority leader in the state house, who would be the first non-white, non-male governor of Georgia and the first female African American governor in USA history.
"I'm not trying to test any waters", she joked. "Rather it lives and thrives in making sure that everybody is lifted by the community", Winfrey said. Her path to victory, as the campaign sees it, comes through activating voters who might have sat out past elections or never before cast a ballot while - at the same time, with the same message - appealing to political moderates, especially those tied into Atlanta's booming economy. A top Abrams aide said both Kemp and Trump have contributed to a poisonous atmosphere, and that Kemp has been silent on previous racially loaded attacks on Abrams. Pence is scheduled to appear with Republican nominee Brian Kemp at three rallies around the state.
After Thursday's dueling outsiders, former president Barack Obama will follow on Friday for Abrams. She recalled generations of black Americans who faced "lynching. oppression. suppression", and declared that "their blood has seeped into my DNA" and forced her to the polls.

The 64-year-old media titan shared a video on her Instagram page holding a clipboard and knocking on the door of a voter named Denise.
"This is Georgia. And Georgia wants a governor that's going to put Georgia values and Georgia first. Are you voting for her?" she asks.
"I said, when we were watching it, 'If that women can get folks to eat pizza with a cauliflower crust on it, she is going to get that woman elected the first black female governor.' She took people to church", the co-host added. Winfrey continued, despite the woman's surprise. "Do you have an early voting plan?"
