This has been billed as one of the biggest National Basketball Association games of the season since the schedules were released, but until recently the Spurs hadn't been holding up their end of the bargain.
Any problems Gregg Popovich and Kawhi Leonard may have had appear to be in the past.
One thing is for certain, though: you can put all of your money on DeRozan getting at least a slightly warmer reception than Kawhi did in San Antonio.
"It's going to be fun", Leonard said.
Brady 'absolutely' believes he will return for 2019, beyond
Normally, we see the rest of the league unable to hang with the overwhelming play of Tom Brady and his dominance. On Wednesday, Brady discussed his anticipation of playing well beyond the 2018 season.
The Spurs continues to be competitive - because death, taxes and Spurs - but if you look at the return for both teams, it's not even close. That's what I hope. "I'm sure they're going to be on Kawhi a little bit, they're going to show a lot of emotions, hopefully a lot of love to both of us".
The bright spot for the Spurs is Jakob Poeltl, who continues to prove that he's a capable backup center on a rookie deal who is able to impact the game in multiple ways. But the past is the past and I'm still playing.I really won't reflect on what has happened until I retire. "I wasn't on the end kind of how (DeRozan's trade) went down".
Later in the Q, DeRozan got his isolation game firing as he finished off this lovely sequence with a moonshot floater over former teammate and good friend Serge Ibaka.
Five months later, DeRozan said he hadn't thought much about the matchup against his former team.
Spurs fans did cheer Green enthusiastically when he was introduced. Leonard reportedly demanded the trade. "I just try to keep moving and get better on what we are doing", added Leonard. I'm waiting to see just like everybody else.
"Give me some popcorn, I just want to watch it", Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge joked with a San Antonio TV station this week. However, it sure seemed like he completely quit on the team past year because he wanted out.
