32-year-old Reddy had been attending a dental convention in St Leonards over the weekend where he spent Sunday night in a hotel on Market street with her ex-boyfriend, Harshwardhan Narde.
Narde died after his BMW auto collided with a truck on the New England Highway on Monday night, a day after his ex-girlfriend was reported missing, New South Wales Police (NSW) said.
The 49-year-old driver of the fruit and vegetable-laden semi-trailer managed to crawl out of his vehicle before it burst into flames on impact with Dr Narde's BMW just after 10pm on Monday. The police have confirmed that Preethi was stabbed several times.
The investigation officials said that the main suspect in the killing, said to be her ex-boyfriend, died in a seemingly deliberate road accident.
